In Class Daydreaming about Thailand

Hi Family & Friends,

It's me, Janine again.  Well, here I am sitting in school.  My teacher is sick and we have a substitute today; so I am a little bored, so I decided to write on my blog.  Now, I am waiting to hear from AFS to find out what city in Thailand I will be living in, after that I will find out what family will be hosting me.  That is the most exciting part.

Many of you may know that we are currently hosting a girl from Mozambique, which is located in southern Africa.  She is pretty cool, we go to the same school, but she is a senior.  She also speaks Portuguese.  Can you believe it an African girl who speaks Portuguese,  but her English is coming along very well.

I think my mom is having second thoughts about me going to Thailand for so long...but it is tooo late, she already agreed I could go. and  plus, I am already packed in my mind...I am now daydreaming about my flight and arrival day.  Well, I have to go, the bell just rang.  I have rehearsal today.  I am in the Lady Barbershoppers singing group at my school...Maybe I will tell you all about in my next blog.  Talk to you soon.

Already Packed in my Mind!

Dear Family & Friends,

This is Janine Walker and I am starting my blog to let everyone know of my newest adventures.  This summer, while everyone else is getting ready for the last day of school, I will be packing my bags and heading off to Thailand as an exchange student for my junior year in high school.

I am so excited about learning about the Thai culture and meeting my new host family.  I am especially excited to begin school and meeting new friends.  I will miss everyone here at home, but I is only one year of my life and I know I will have lots of fun.

I am writing everyone because I have been working very hard to raise money by babysitting and doing extra chores, but between keeping up with school and all my extra activities, it's really been tough.

For those that can, please consider making a secure donation through my online Chip-in Fundraiser.  For those of you who would rather donate to me by mail, click my name on the "About Me" link and send me an e-mail, then I will forward you my address.

Here is the link to find my blog whenever you feel like hearing about my adventures.  Janine-in-Thailand.blogspot.com.  This is the place where you can read more about me and follow me through my entire year... once I actually get to Thailand.

No amount donated is too small and you can come back again and again if you wish!  -- every little bit helps me get a little closer to my goal.

Thank you so much for reading my blog.  If you can forward this blog to anyone else you know who may be interested in sponsoring my AFS foreign exchange experience, feel free do to so.  And also, don't forget to check back to my blog.

Warm regards to everyone,

Janine
